# Checkout Notes & Return-By Date

### Checkout Notes (what they’re for)

The **Note** field accepts free text (job ref numbers, site names, event names, context). It’s optional.

### Where notes appear

Notes entered at checkout are visible in:

- **Check In** tab → Current Assignment panel
- **Currently Checked Out** report → Notes column
- Printed report → included in the printout
- CSV / Excel exports → Notes column

### Return-By date (expected return)

Use the **Return by** date picker to set an expected return date/time. If it passes, the system flags it as overdue (including on the PDF slip).
